We will continure to collect pull tabs to help families in need.

WT Pre-School Learns Fire Safety

The Miss Jane, Miss Rachel, and the Headstart preschools at WT Elementary had a visit from the Union Township Fire Department to compliment the unit on community workers. The firefighters taught the children about fire safety. We wanted the children to learn about what to do in the event of a fire in their home. We learned how to dial 911. We also learned to crawl under the smoke and leave the house to meet their family in a safe place. In addition, we learned to drop to the floor and roll if our clothes were on fire. Many children hide from the fireman in an emergency because they are scared; therefore, they put on their firefighting gear to show the children what they would look like. We are thrilled this experience has taught the preschoolers a wealth of information to help them in an emergency. It is never too young to learn about safety.

Upward Basketball Registration

Upward Basketball Registration forms for grade K-6 are available in the WT lobby.
Early registration ends November 16th ( save $10). Deadline for registration is November 30th.

Withamsville Spirit Challenge

Withamsville Elementary has been challenged to get the most parents, students and staff at the final Amelia home football game for the 2012 season is scheduled for this Friday, October 19th. All Withamsville, Merwin, Holly Hill and Amelia Elementary parents, students and staff are all invited to join in the fun and support The Amelia Barons! The game starts at 7:30.

The 1st 40 elementary students dressed in school spirit wear will receive a free ticket to the game!

Look for Mrs. Schmidt and other WT staff at the game!

WOW- Week of Welcome at WT

WOW!

“Week of Welcome”

Welcome back to school! Withamsville Elementary welcomes students back to school with an entire week of celebration. We are excited to open our doors for another fantastic school year. Let’s make this our best year ever by getting off to a great start. Please join in the fun by participating in our Welcome Week activities.

Tuesday 9/4: “WOW DAY” Start the year off right by bringing back your best Bobcat behaviors. If you are caught showing off your best behavior your name will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a spirit item.

Wednesday 9/5: Blue and Gold Day. Get out your blue and gold clothing and show off your school spirit. A drawing for spirit items will happen today.

Thursday 9/6: Team Work Day. Get out your team gear so we can celebrate what is special about you. If you play a sport or are on a cheerleading squad get out your uniform. You can also dress to show off your local pride by wearing your Bengals or Reds gear.

Friday 9/7: Bully Free Day. Withamsville works hard at creating a bully free school. On Friday, we ask that all students that have earned a t-shirt or bully free hat wear those to school today.

Readyfest West Reminder

The 2012 Readyfest West sponsored by the Union Township Kiwanis Club will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Glen Este High School. This is a day when West Clermont K-5 students on the free or reduced lunch program can obtain free school supplies.

• Parents should bring their medical card or proof of income. They will need to call their case worker if this is a problem.
• They will also need to bring proof of residency in the form of a utility bill or a rental agreement.
• If their child is newly enrolled, they will need to provide proof of enrollment.

WT Recycling Update

This past school year we have been collecting plastic caps as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Honestly, we were overwhelmed by the amount of caps that were brought in to WT. We started out with a HUGE bin that we didn't imagine we would be able to fill once, let alone twice. We would like to thank everyone for their support on this project.
For our next school year we will continue to collect old cell phones and small electronics as well as ink and laser cartridges. We will also begin collecting metal drink can tabs. We will have containers at school when we beging again in the fall.
Don't forget to continue to collect Box Tops for our PTO!

Great American Ballpark

WT fourth grade students recently attended Great American Ballpark, home of the Cincinnati Reds. Their field trip included a tour of the Reds Hall of Fame Museum and a tour of the ballpark. In this photo, students are in the dugout. The students also created their own "radio" braodcast to learn how people followed the Cincinnati Reds before television.

Global Purple Day

Caps for Caring Update

As you can see, the bin is getting full, but we have a long way to go! Please continue to send in caps!

Caps for Caring

“Caps for Caring”Three of our preschool students still have plenty of room to spare in the bin that the students and staff at Withamsville Elementary are trying to fill as a service project. A local recycling facility has agreed to collect our caps in exchange for dollars that will be donated to cancer research. Please join our effort by collecting and donating plastic bottle caps from pop, juice, water or milk containers. The only requirement is that you turn in clean caps. This will be on on-going project for the duration of the school year.
